You are responsible for repairs if they are caused by damage on your part. However, if it is normal wear and tear, it is the landlord's responsibility to take care of it.
And if there is damage (theft, fire, water damage, etc.), you must report it to your insurer to initiate the process and, depending on your contract, request a possible reimbursement.
