Yes! If you are a citizen of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) while studying in France. 😊
👉 Remember to apply for it at least 20 days before your departure through your national health insurance provider. It is issued free of charge.
With the EHIC:
👉 You can receive reimbursement for medical care in France under the same conditions as students covered by the French Social Security system.
⚠️ However, the EHIC does not replace supplementary health insurance. Without additional health coverage, you'll still have to pay part of your medical expenses.
⚠️ It also does not cover repatriation, personal liability, or certain protections that are important while studying in France. For comprehensive coverage, it is recommended that you take out student insurance adapted to your stay.
