Yes, if you are a citizen of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) during your study stay in France.
Remember to apply for it at least 20 days before your departure: it is free and issued by your health insurance provider in your home country.
The EHIC allows you to be reimbursed for your medical care in France under the same conditions as a French student affiliated with French Social Security.
However, it does not replace complementary health insurance: without a health insurance plan, you will only be partially reimbursed.
The EHIC does not cover you if you need repatriation or cover in case of damage caused to others. That is why, in addition to your European Health Insurance Card, it is necessary to take out comprehensive student insurance for France: health + private civil liability + personal accident + assistance for international students.
